The story behind the viral song "Ee Paradevanaho"
Millions are listening to Ee Paradevanaho, but very few know that this hymn traces its roots back more than 130 years.
It is traditionally attributed to Rev. Yusthus Joseph, better known as Vidwankutty Achan. According to biographical accounts, he was born as Ram Iyer into a Brahmin family, learned Carnatic music from his father, who was a Bhagavathar, and later embraced Christianity along with his family after a life-changing experience.
He went on to compose more than 300 Christian devotional hymns, many of them beautifully blending the richness of Carnatic music with Christian spirituality. Several of his compositions are still sung today in churches and by Carnatic musicians.
The viral hymn "Ee Paradevanaho" (also found as "Ee Paramadevanaho" in older hymn books) is one of his timeless creations that continues to inspire generations.
