Notes

The Syriac version of the Trisagion is becoming part of Qurbana in the Syro Malabar churches in the USA. Young people seem to have developed a liking for the chant and are comfortable singing it. The present video is from a recent celebration at the Syro Malabar parish at Hartford in Connecticut. The youngsters were very enthusiastic to learn and sing the chant. The youngsters had the complete support from the Vicar, Fr. Joseph Pullikkattil. The recessional song was the St. Thomas Chant in Syriac that we posted earlier in Aramaic Project - 272 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkogESNNl9k). If this trend continues, Syriac chants might become part of the liturgical music repertory of Syro Malabar Catholics in America. We hope future scholars will use this and similar videos for a longitudinal study of Syriac chants in America
